Collagen fibers - what is collagen in the skin responsible for? What are the effects of a lack of collagen?
Collagen plays a key role in the structure of the skin, accounting for about 80% of its dry weight. (1) As a major structural protein, collagen is the foundation for connective tissue, providing it with adequate support and participating in key processes at the cellular level.
As we age, natural collagen production declines, leading to the fragmentation of collagen and elastin fibers, as well as the dysfunction of fibroblasts - the cells responsible for producing and maintaining collagen structure. The decline in collagen levels begins to be noticeable around age 25, worsening the condition and appearance of the skin. It is estimated that each year the amount of collagen in the skin decreases by about 1%. (2) The consequence of collagen deficiency is a loss of skin elasticity and firmness, which manifests itself in the formation of wrinkles.
Existing scientific studies indicate that dietary supplementation with collagen can significantly improve various properties of the skin, benefiting its health and appearance. (3,4)
Choose the best collagen for skin, hair and nails - who can consider collagen supplementation?
Skin aging is an inevitable process, the first symptoms of which are often facial wrinkles. Over time, the skin gradually loses its elasticity and ability to maintain adequate levels of moisture, and its cells become less resistant to damage and have a reduced ability to renew themselves. The weakening of the natural protective barrier makes the skin more sensitive to negative environmental influences, such as UV radiation and air pollution.
While the aging process cannot be stopped, it is possible to support the body in dealing with these changes to keep skin and hair in the best possible condition. To this end, we designed Skin Collagen from Levann
Our skin collagen supplement from Levann is dedicated to people who:
- notice the first wrinkles on their skin
- want to take care of the healthy and young appearance of their complexion
- want to actively counteract the aging process
- are looking for new ways to enrich their daily care.
Thanks to the form of sachets with powder to dissolve in water, our supplement is convenient to use even for those who are reluctant to take tablets or capsules.

Verisol® complex
Verisol® is a unique blend of collagen peptides that have a direct effect on the skin's collagen metabolism from the inside out. Studies have shown that regular intake of Verisol® can significantly increase collagen production. (5) In an eight-week study, Verisol® formula was confirmed to:
- improve skin elasticity, (6)
- contribute to reducing the appearance of wrinkles, (5)
- affect skin structure by stimulating the formation of its extracellular matrix, (7)
- promote healthy nail growth. (8)
These effects were already noticeable at a dose of 2.5 grams of collagen per day.
Vitamin C
Is an antioxidant that effectively counteracts free radicals responsible for accelerating the aging process. In addition, vitamin C supports the production of collagen fibers in the skin, providing firmness and minimizing the risk of wrinkles*. Studies show its ability to protect the skin from UVA and UVB radiation. (9) It is also known to brighten the complexion and even out skin tone, as confirmed by numerous scientific publications. (10)
* Vitamin C helps in the proper production of collagen for proper skin function and helps protect cells from oxidative stress.
Acerola extract
It is a rich source of vitamin C, whose absorption efficiency is enhanced by the presence of polyphenols and anthocyanins. There are between 1,000 and 4,500 mg (11) of vitamin C in 100 grams of fresh fruit, which significantly exceeds the amount in citrus. New research suggests that it may also help reduce the effects of UV exposure. (12)
Astaxanthin
This unique and valuable ingredient is increasingly present in supplements aimed at improving skin condition, especially for protection against photoaging. (13) It stands out for its strong antioxidant properties, its ability to inhibit collagen-degrading enzymes and gives Levann “jA” Skin Collagen that vibrant red color. (14)
Vitamin E
Works in tandem with vitamin C as an antioxidant, together fighting free radicals and affecting the aging process*.
* Vitamin E helps protect cells from oxidative stress.
Vitamin A
Has a key role in the process of cell specialization, which is important for cells with a rapid life cycle, such as hair follicles and skin cells. This property contributes to skin health by promoting the natural exfoliation and renewal of the epidermis, which ensures proper hydration.
* Vitamin A helps maintain healthy skin and plays a role in cell specialization.
